Note from Sundara...Back late last year, one of you lovely customers had a box of yarn go missing. This customer was upset, not just because of all that missing yarn, but because she was particularly looking forward to her "The Grass is Always Greener" yarn. Can we blame her? No. Because missing fluffy green yarn is something to get upset about.

This was one of those colors that I didn't write down how I dyed it, so I wasn't sure I could dye it again. It took me until now to try again. Of course, I didn't realize until I had this yarn half-way dyed that the original was lace silky alpaca and not mohair. Oops. My bad.

But I think this may be serendipitous because I don't remember the original alpaca taking such a shiny turquoise hue in the silk core as this mohair did. And it's stunning. It's a bright, shiny turquoise set off with all sorts of different shades of green fluff. It's like the original, only better. And the original was pretty fantastic. So hopefully this will make up my lovely customer's for the missing green alpaca. And the rest of you can get some green fluff as well. If you didn't get some the first time. Or did and now want some in mohair. Because you really can't have too much fluffy green yarn.

"The Grass is Always Greener" lace silky mohair will not be dyed again. Updated: less than 1 batch left.

Lace Silky Mohair is 460 yards and 50 grams of 70% ultra-fine kid mohair and 30% silk.
8 stitches per inch on US 3/3.25mm needles.

      Jellied
extra fine fingering silk
just a few skeins left!

Note from Sundara...My daughter has a jelly fish obsession; apparently, they are the trendy thing, and she's 13, so trendy things are what back in my day we would have called awesome. I don't know what they call awesome things now. I'm too old to learn new slang. But I saw this photo and figured I might be able to coax her into wearing something that wasn't black or white or pink if it was inspired by her beloved jelly fish. Even if I think jelly fish are sort of stupid. I'm willing to go there. Besides, they do look kind of cool here. All floaty and ethereal and orange and teal are always awesome. Especially together.

I'm going to offer to knit her (on my knitting machine because that's how I roll) the "Sailor Swift Top" by Veronika Linderg. It's stripy and sleeveless and perfect for summer. You don't have to be 13 to realize it's a great summer top. Other options are the "Friday Tee" by Petite Knits. It's much too conservative for a 13-year-old, but probably not for the rest of us. And if you feel like stripes might make you look too "wide," I humbly suggest going with thicker stripes rather than thinner. They work better for those of us (me included) who avoid the stripes for this reason. "Dingley Dell" by Isabel Kraemer has got you covered here.

"Jellied" will not be dyed again. Updated: just a few skeins left of the orange.

      C'est Magnifique

      $27.00

Note from Sundara...I'm going to be perfectly honest. It's not even 9am and I've spent the morning fighting with my teenager over iPads and homework, my brain is mushy, and the most coherent thing I can think of to say about this yarn is "It's so pretty." Which is a shame, because this yarn is way more than just pretty and it deserves something pithy to be said about it. But, uh...It's so pretty!

I will also tell you that this is probably the last of the aran merino for the "season" in that the "season" being sweater weather. You all tend to stop buying the heavier gauge yarn around this time, so around now I start dyeing more of the lighter weight yarns until later in the summer. Which is when you all start thinking about knitting heavier-weight sweaters for sweater weather again. So if you have a need for aran weight yarn...again...It's so pretty! (The fingering weight purple one is super pretty, too!)

"C'est Magnifique" will not be dyed again. Updated: 2 skeins left of #1 and half a batch of the other two.

Extra Fine Aran Merino is 181 yards and 100 grams of 100% super wash merino.

      Red Hot Poker

      $27.00

Note from Sundara...I very nearly didn't name this Red Hot Poker because none of this yarn is red, but it is the name of this flower and it is a great name. Isn't it? Great name. Great flower. And even better yarn.

You all are probably excited about the yak because you all can't get enough of the yarn, but I'm excited about #2, the yellow lace silky alpaca. Most of you are probably thinking "Good Lord, that is some yellow yarn." And maybe not in a good way. But it is yellow in a good way. The thing with the lace silky alpaca is that when you knit it up, the color diffuses almost exponentially. So if you want even a basically bright color out of it, you need the color to look almost garish in the skein. So when this knits up, it will be the most gorgeous yellow with hints of saffron and marigold. It's a yellow-lovers dream.

#3, the fingering silky yak, is also a yellow-lovers dream, but also a coral-lovers dream. This is all fiery sunset colors and I'm loathe to let you all have these skeins because it's so pretty and these are the colors I like to wear. But I will. I will let you have the entire batch because yarn dyers can't hoard all the yarn.

#1, the blue lace silky alpaca is a deep, rich, super saturated blue, that, like #2, will hold its color when knit up. Or at least most of it. It's going to diffuse because all lace yarn diffuses some of its color, but it will still be a very elegant deep blue.

"Red Hot Poker" will not be dyed again. Updated: half a batch of the alpacas and 3 skeins of the yak left.

Lace Silky Alpaca is 328 yards and 50 grams of 75% brushed baby suri alpaca and 25% mulberry silk.
8 stitches per inch on US 3/3.25mm needles.
Gently hand wash in tepid water for project longevity.
Orders for 2+ skeins will be matched as closely as possible.

Fingering Silky Yak is 219 yards and 50 grams of 50% baby yak and 50% mulberry silk.
7 stitches and 9 rows per inch on US 3/3.25mm needles.
Gently hand wash in tepid water for project longevity.
Orders for 2+ skeins will be matched as closely as possible.

Note from Sundara...(This was supposed to be Friday's Daily Dream, but it took me an extra day to dye the yarn, so you get a bonus Monday, President's day Daily Dream. Enjoy!)

I found this inspiration photo a few months ago and fell absolutely in love. Isn't is gorgeous? It's already a gradient, so choosing what to dye was easy. And OMG I am thrilled with how this turned out. It's SO PRETTY. SO PRETTY. I think of all the gradients I've ever dyed, this is my favorite. It's just that pretty.

So if it were me, I'd knit a sweater. Any sweater. Doesn't matter. It'll be amazing. Actually, if it were me, I'd buy this gradient and hoard the yarn because I couldn't bear to knit it, and then eventually, years from now, I'd knit it into something for my daughter because I love her that much. She gets all my best yarn even though she doesn't appreciate it. So that's how good this yarn is. It's daughter-worthy.

"Hope Blooms Eternal" extra fine fingering merino gradient sets will not be dyed again.

      The River Seine

      $27.00

Note from Sundara...A few weeks ago, when I mentioned that I wanted to take a looser approach to how I dyed Daily Dreams as interpreted from their inspiration photos, this was what I meant. As today's colors are only very loosely based on today's photos. I wanted "spring-time" colors, but I loved this photo. It's so romantic. Can't you imagine floating down the Seine at sunset? The banks of Paris right there. The Eiffel tower. Maybe some champagne. You wouldn't even need your knitting. Although you could bring it if you wanted.

So these are "spring-time" colors based on what we can imagine a "spring-time" sunset on The River Seine would be. #1, the green baby yak, is spring green at it's first flush. #2, the pink and purple skein of silk and alpaca is as fluffy and soft and pretty as Parisian clouds. Because Parisian clouds are prettier than whatever clouds you've got over you right now. Definitely prettier than the clouds I've got dumping snow over me right now. And #3, the glossy peachy fingering silk with hints of pink is peach blossoms and sunsets at it's silkiest, shiniest, most glowing. And when you put it all together, it is somehow The River Seine.

"The River Seine" will not be dyed again. Updated: half a batch left of the alpaca.

Fingering Silky Yak is 219 yards and 50 grams of 50% baby yak and 50% mulberry silk.

Note from Sundara...The last (and only) two times I've dyed this yarn base, a lot of you ordered sweater quantities, so I wanted to dye a color that was "sweater knit-able." Although now that I'm writing that, I honestly am not sure what that means. Apparently, I thought I did when I was dyeing this because I thought for sure this green and blue would look simply smashing knit up as a sweater. (Or anything else you might want to make out of this yarn.) Also, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to dye yarn named "Sea Holly."

Actually, this plant is "Eryngium Planum" but is known as Sea Holly. Which makes sense because who wants to say Eryngium. Sea Holly is a fun name for a pretty cool little plant. All spiky and dangerous. This color isn't though. It's "sweater knit-able." 😉

"Sea Holly" will not be dyed again. Updated: half a batch left.

Note from Sundara...This set of colors could easily be worked up into a total showstopper. What project that might be, I have no idea. You all are a lot smarter than I am when it comes to figuring out what to knit with my yarn. But the color combination is so unexpected, they make you look twice, and then look more closely.

As for each individual color, they photographed remarkably true, so what you see is pretty much what you get. I wanted to capture that field of lupine covered in mist (#4, far left), along with the pale yellows and oranges of the sunrise (#3, middle left). The darker, deeper purples of the upper sky are in #1 (far right), and I decided to add a bit of those darker orange to those same purple clouds in #2 (middle left). You could mix and match any of the skeins, as they all go well together, but I'm still partial to the set because I like my showstoppers.

"The First Clouds of Dawn" will not be dyed again. 3 skeins left of #1, 2 skeins left of #3, & 4 skeins left of #4.

Note from Sundara...Well, who could resist these irises? This was so much fun to dye and will probably be even more fun to knit. I figured you could get a single skein, or, for those of you who hate knitting fingering but want to knit a sweater in a sort of fade/gradient, this could work.

#1 (left, the blue-leaning one) started with those tiny little stripes of blue in the center of the petals. It went from there. It's got that creamy-yellow of the petals, along with hints of the purple.

#3 (right, the purplish one) is probably the most "inspired" by the actual flower. It's super pretty, with that creamy yellow covered in the purple. Which, honestly, calling it purple is a disservice. It's so much more. I want to say this is my favorite of the bunch, but that's like saying you have a favorite child. I really shouldn't choose.

"All Aflush" will not be dyed again. Updated: 1 skein left of #1 and #3.

      Arc de Triomphe
just a few skeins left!

Note from Sundara...I've been wanting to use this photo for ages. It's the Arc de Triomphe, for starters. But I love how it gives such a sense of how it must feel at that specific moment in time. And the colors. I just love these colors.

#1 fingering silky merino singles (right) may not look like much, but I actually used bright orange and bright purple to get what is a hazy, spicy, coppery, rosy triumph of a color. If it were me, I'd pair it with #2 fingering silky merino singles (middle) and knit myself Stephen West's "Flying Foxtail Wrap." (2 skeins each color) Because, while the obvious choice for that project is two super contrasting colors, the projects I like best are those with two colors that have a medium contrast from the same color family. Like these two.

#3 Italian fingering merino cashmere (left) is for those who want a little bit of all the color but want it in one skein. It doesn't go all the way to the spicy, coppery burnt orange of #1, but it's got rich, deep shades of ruby red that wash over that deep blue-purple. It's pretty amazing.

"Arc de Triomphe" will not be dyed again. Updated: 3 skeins left of #2 and #3.

      Twr Mawr
just a few skeins left!

Note from Sundara...I was laid up with a pinched nerve and ended up watching a Netflix documentary on rugby, of all things. Which, OMG that is one brutal sport. But it got me thinking about Wales and all things green. And also, how great the Welsh language is. I mean Twr Mawr? What a great name is that? Twr doesn't even have any vowels. I love that.

But let's talk about green yarn. This is all things green and all sorts of different green. Greens I never dye.

#1 fingering merino (far left) is probably the most straightforward. It's brighter and more saturated than I usually dye, but it's bright while still being dark. It's a green green. With all those greens you think about when you think about green.

#2 high twist (second from left), I threw in for our sock knitters or for those of you who want something a little sturdier. It's the all around color of this lot. It's what you would get if #1 and #5 had a baby.

#3 fingering merino (the middle) is like a green olive tapenade. Maybe with some capers and parsley thrown in to round out the flavor.

"Twr Mawr" will not be dyed again. 1 skein left of #1, 2 skeins left of #2, & 3 skeins left of #3.

Extra Fine Fingering Merino is 437 yards and 100 grams of 100% super wash merino.

      The Velvet Light of Dawn
just a few skeins left!

Note from Sundara...I have two more batches of the baby silky yak, and I wanted to do one of them (today's) in a dark wine red because that is always popular. So I went with this photo because it's another I wouldn't have normally picked because mixing orange and magenta aren't popular, but breaking it down into three different colors loosely inspired by the photo? All sorts of fun things.

The baby silky yak (#1 and far left in the trio) is the most straightforward. Like I said, it is a dark wine red and glorious in silk and yak. Yak being even softer than cashmere. The fingering merino cashmere (#3 and far right in the trio) is all sorts of dark browns with glints of orange and some reds in it from the inspired dawn. It literally feels like a rich velvet. But the fingering merino singles (#2 and the middle of the trio) is the one I find the most interesting. It's a combo of dark cherry reds and a deep, muted fuchsia - pretty much the color of the sky in the photo above the orange. It's not a color combination you see often, but it works well in this color. It should knit up oh so pretty; the two colors blending together to make something so much more than each as an individual. I hope some of you will try it out.

"The Velvet Light of Dawn" will not be dyed again. Just a few skeins of #2 left.

      'Tis the Season
extra fine fingering merino
3 skeins left!

Note from Sundara...I wanted to do something red, because it is the season, but I didn't want to do something super obvious Christmas red. Because usage for that sort of red is kind of limited. Plus, my mom has this gorgeous dark red scarf she always wears this time of year and it's always festive without being super obvious about it. She gets compliments whenever she wears it.

So while there are literally ten days left to wear gorgeous dark red scarves, there is no reason to not plan ahead for next year. Or knit something you can wear at other times of years in addition to a few weeks in December. Because that's what is so great about this red. It can work year round if you want it to. You get all the options and can still feel festive.

Note from Sundara...Has anyone else watched "The Fall of the House of Usher" on Netflix yet? It's Poe, and anyone who has been getting the Daily Dreams for a while knows I'm a big Poe fan, so I couldn't resist. It was disturbing and compelling and fabulous and I had to dye up some yarn inspired by it. There are ravens throughout the series, and this one was more inspiring than photos of dilapidated houses.

The yarn though. This is one of my better Poe-inspired colors and I've loved all of my Poe-inspired colors. There's no actual black in it, even though you might be surprised by that when you get it in your hot little hands. It's darkest midnight blue with just hints of light here and there. It's mainly dark. It would actually look fantastic as a scarf or shawl set against the backdrop of a black coat. Especially if you have dark hair or bright blue eyes. Or both. Definitely if you have both.

"The Fall of the House of Usher" fingering merino singles will not be dyed again. Updated: One batch left.

Note from Sundara...If you came upon a gate like this while you were out on a walk, you just know you'd find some sort of castle that was under the spell of some evil fairy. Maybe it'd be a beast looking for true love and he'd have singing teapots and a massive library. Except we're knitters so the library would all be full of audiobooks to listen too while we knit with the never-ending supply of yarn that is also provided. It's a spell. It could happen.

Or, maybe there would be a prince or princess who is asleep for a hundred years and the spell requires a sweater hand-knit by their true love (obviously you) to be awoken from their slumber. This would make for a much interesting fairy tale, don't you think? Grimm got it all wrong. There was not enough yarn in Grimm's. I've rectified that with some "Spellbound" yarn. It won't put you to sleep or turn you into a monster, but it will keep you warm and cozy and give you something to do if you do happen to find yourself stuck in an abandoned castle under a spell.

Note from Sundara...It's been years since I last read Jane Eyre, but I wanted to do a sort of "English castle covered in ivy in the fog" sort of color and when I saw this, all I could thing about was Jane and Rochester and his crazy wife haunting the attic of Thornfield Hall. Or at least I think that's how the story goes. I remember it being all very romantic back when I was sixteen.

The color, like the castle, is all lovely english ivy green with bits of grey, both dark and light, stone and fog, peeking through. But unlike the actual Thornfield Hall, this will keep you warm and safe and there won't be any crazy wife locked up in the attic.

Note from Sundara...Since I was in college, my little town has had an annual Lavender Festival. Now, you might think this is no big deal, but let me tell you. It's HUGE. People come from all over. The lavender farms gear up for months. Traffic backs up for miles and miles. And us locals? We don't leave our house for like a week because of the tourists and the lines and the traffic. Total nightmare. We can't even go to the grocery store.

But even though I don't leave the house for a week and I sort of hate the festival because it really is a pain, it really is pretty and I sort of love it, too. It's really something to live somewhere when, before that week, you're just driving into town to get milk and fields of lavender are just there. Right by the side of the road. Like you are in the south of France or something. So this is my ode to our little festival and all that pretty lavender and the fields of we are blessed with.

I hope you'll make something lovely with it!

Pure Joy fingering silky merino singles

Note from Sundara...Originally, I dyed this color up because I thought it would look phenomenal paired with some deep poppy red or maybe a garnet or deep pink to knit Joji's "Pure Joy" shawl. Which I was contemplating knitting because it's a classic that everybody should knit at some point.

But then, looking through Joji's patterns, I thought how very spectacular this color would also look as Joji's "Imagine When." Which, yes, a lot of you have probably knit in the Imagine color, but it would be equally lovely in this color. All the deep teal-blue-greens. The subtle mix would suit that shawl and this yarn is perfect for all that garter.

You'll need 2 skeins for "Imagine When" and 1 skein plus 1 skein of another color (from your stash!!) for "Pure Joy."

"Pure Joy" will not be dyed again. Updated: less than 1 batch left.
