Note from Sundara...A friend of mine started knitting her annual state fair submission project, which, this year, is red, lace, and silky merino. It's going to be gorgeous, and I thought red lace and silky merino was a fine idea for summer knitting. Plus, my mother's red poppies are blooming, so I got inspired. And just look at that color! It simply glows. One of my best reds in years.
If it were me, I'd go all out and knit something I'd have for the rest of my life. Something like the "Echo Flower Shawl" by Jenny Johnson Johnen. (1 skein) If you aren't up for that, something much more simple, yet still lovely, is Kate Davies' "A Hap for Harriet" (1 skein). Alternatively, you could go a completely different route and pair it with a heavier weight yarn and knit the "Silk Scribbles" shawl by Iris Schreier (1 skein). I've been wanting to knit that for ages. It looks super fun and should be a total showstopper when you're done. Plus, you'd get to go stash diving!
