All That Glitters

Note from Sundara... Attempting gold on a yarn that doesn't have silk is always risky because it lacks that shimmer, but I was super curious to see how something gold-ish would turn out on this yarn base, given the linen content. Which, I'll remind everyone who doesn't keep track of these things, doesn't take the dye because hand-dyers use acid dyes which only works on protein fibers (wool, silk, etc.) and not plant fibers like linen. So this yarn is spun specifically so the linen won't soak up the dye and will instead remain natural, giving the yarn a tweedy effect. Or, in this case: tweedy gold.

I think it's rather unusual and kind of cool. Almost retro, for those of you who are into that sort of thing. It somehow manages to look fresh and modern despite the retro-ishness of the color. I don't know how it does that, but that's how it feels. It would look amazing as a cute little tank or tee during the summer that you could then throw a cardigan or jacket on in the colder months. Maybe paired with something blue? That's what I would do anyway. You might have a better idea. Either way, send me photos. I'd love to see what you come up with.
