Note from Sundara...I have a horrible, terrible, highly irrational fear of vampires. I know a lot of people love vampires, but I've always shied away of doing anything vampire-related because they might come and GET ME. Vampires are real, y'all. Don't try to convince me otherwise. But I was asked to dye a yarn for socks that would be a little something-something if they were worn with black pants and black shoes but not be, you know, garish. And I saw this photo and all I could think of was VAMPIRES. But it was also just the perfect color for this request, so I set my fears aside.
This is truly the perfect color if you are in need of a pair of socks to wear with black pants and black shoes. It's also the perfect color if you want something inspired by a vampire's garden. Or it's also the perfect color if you are in the market for a dark blackened red. It's super gorgeous. And I promise you, it won't suck your blood.
"The Vampire's Garden" will not be dyed again.

Note from Sundara...I wanted to use my new and improved dye methods that I improved even more to dye a nearly solid dark, dark espresso brown because it's such a great neutral and can be used in so many different ways.
Like if you need a cardigan to throw on over just about anything, the "Hitofude Cardigan" by Hiroko Fukatsu is pretty much everybody's favorite. Or if you need a backdrop for color work, it will make just about any color stand out. "Pink Velvet" by Andrea Mowry is a good one that actually uses brown in the sample. Or if you need a base color for one of those rainbow shawls that are all over Ravelry, this will work wonderfully. I'm a fan of "Lamina" by Ambah O'Brien because it has both a wrap and a cowl option. Or you know, you could just use this for anything you want because espresso is a great color.
"Espresso" will not be dyed again.

Note from Sundara...I'm ready for winter to be over and for spring to bloom all over the place, so when I saw these, well, I gasped because so pretty! And I had to dye us some dark lilac inspired yarn. I used my new dye methods, and then I tried a new method to improve upon that method so these are even newer and improved dye methods to make this super saturated and just a glorious subtle, solid color with all sorts of hue variation within that lilac purple.
Which means you can use this for pretty much anything. Lace in particular would be stunning and I just saw a new pattern on Ravelry, "Hazelnoot" by Susanne Visch, which is a very lacy wrap. It's to die for. Yes, it's a lot of lace, but it would be so worth. It's one of those projects that will make people stop you in the street to ohh and ahh over your amazing skills. (1-2 skeins depending on which size you knit). If you aren't up for all that lace, then something like "Venezia" by Joji is a great 1 skein alternative. And for my crocheters, I love the "Flowery Filet" scarf by Fran Mori. (2 skeins)
"Spring Out of the Darkness" will not be dyed again. Two batches available.

Note from Sundara...I actually didn't mean to dye this color again. I started out dyeing another inspiration photo, but it turned into this color on accident. I think the yarn wanted to be this color, so I went with it. It's even deeper and richer than the original "A Mighty Gale" on the silky alpaca. It's super stunning. An navy over what you could call teal or turquoise, but it's a blued teal or turquoise, so maybe it's more like a dark blue that leans blue-green. If you want to get technical about it.
As for what to knit, I feel like this would be a really spectacular alternative to the bright cobalt blue version of the blue short-sleeve sweater with white pants that we are all so fond of wearing in the summer. Because sometimes it's good to mix things up. You could go with the always popular "Anker's Tee" by Petite Knits or "Cloudesley" by Isabell Kraemer is another fun one. Or, if you are looking for something new, the "Flicker" shawl by Janina Kallio is gorgeous and just released. It would be divine in this color.
"A Mighty Gale" will not be dyed again.

Note from Sundara...This is a nearly solid purple that leans more magenta than blue. And by solid, I mean as solid as hand-dyed yarn gets. If you are looking for two analogous colors that look great together for a project, this looks absolutely spectacular with Odds & Ends #284. Just one batch available.

Note from Sundara...This is a variegated mix of dark indigo and deep dark sky blue. Or maybe the color of sunlight sparkling off the ocean. I'm not really what to call that lighter color. But's it's a gorgeous deep blue-turquoise. Just one batch available.

Note from Sundara...You gotta love this forest teal-green. It's using my new and improved dye methods, so the color is thoroughly saturated throughout the skein and the strands of the skein. Which you all seem to be loving, so I'll keep dyeing these kinds of colors for you.
You can do pretty much whatever you want with yarn dyed this way. It's as versatile as it comes, especially in fingering merino. And this color is one of those that works for almost everyone, too. And, now that I'm thinking about it, it's pretty much a four-season color. You could wear it year round and it would go with just about anything. It's like a non-neutral neutral. Can't beat that.
"The Rainforest" will not be dyed again. Updated: two batches left.

Note from Sundara...I saw this photo and thought "Well, that's spectacular." And since recently you all have been way more into the desert South West colors than I expected, I thought why not dye some up in some lace silky alpaca. I haven't done that before. It's a serious oversight.
And this is as desert South West as it comes. It's all cinnamon and bronze, rust and burnt umber, fire, ginger, and sandstone. All the lovelies. And with that shimmer of silk running through it, it's like the shine of the sun bouncing off the rocks amongst all that fluff.
"The Grandest of Them All" will not be dyed again. Updated: less than one batch left.

Note from Sundara...Because I am a perfectionist, or maybe a glutton for punishment, I decided to try to dye Concordant on the DK merino again. And I won. Because it was a competition. Me against the yarn. Or the dye pots. Or the dye. Something. I'm not really sure. Or you won because you get the yarn and it's lovely! All dark and mysterious midnights over dark and mysterious greens just like you all asked for. And in a heavier gauge for those of you who like something a little sturdier (or faster to knit up) than fingering.
The only down side is I didn't have the three full batches on hand, so there isn't as much as usual. Sorry about that!
