Note from Sundara...I actually have never dyed a winter solstice inspired yarn and I know I'm a few days early, but I saw this photo, and it seemed very "winter solstice-y." So I went with it. Because maybe a bunch of rabbits and deers are having their very own secret winter solstice celebration just down yonder where that glow is. We don't know what the forest creatures get up to when we aren't around. They could have a whole secret life we know nothing about. You never know.
As for the yarn, it is very dark, but if you have it in the sunlight, it virtually glows just like these winter woods. The color pops out and it becomes so much more than just winter darkness. And it's soft and squishy because it's DK. Soft and squishy like new fallen snow. Except unlike snow, it's warm and cozy and definitely something you'd want to knit with.
"Winter Solstice" will not be dyed again. One skein left.

Note from Sundara...I wanted to do something red, because it is the season, but I didn't want to do something super obvious Christmas red. Because usage for that sort of red is kind of limited. Plus, my mom has this gorgeous dark red scarf she always wears this time of year and it's always festive without being super obvious about it. She gets compliments whenever she wears it.
So while there are literally ten days left to wear gorgeous dark red scarves, there is no reason to not plan ahead for next year. Or knit something you can wear at other times of years in addition to a few weeks in December. Because that's what is so great about this red. It can work year round if you want it to. You get all the options and can still feel festive.
"Tis the Season" will not be dyed again. Updated: 1/2 batch left.

Note from Sundara...I had more requests for green aran merino because I'm pretty sure you can't have too much green aran merino. I've had this inspiration photo bouncing around and decided to give it a go because just look at those cute little houses! You know hobbits live there.
This is lush green with a bit of that dark stone blue rock thrown in to keep things interesting. There's dark green, a bit of lighter green. Lots of emeralds, a bit of more mossy greens. But pretty as much green as a green-loving yarn-lover could want.
"In the Land of Hobbits" will not be dyed again.

Note from Sundara...This is another one of my "dark without using black" colors, although I ended up not pushing it as dark or as intense as some of my previous efforts of this method. Mainly because I liked how the color ended up and also because this photo, while pretty dark, has that bright light flash of sea, so I wanted to not go all gothically dark.
The result is a very pretty, super interesting subtle color that has a very wide range of hues within it's relatively analogous color scheme. It would be perfect if you are looking to knit lace or cables but don't want to use an entirely single-hued yarn. But, at the same time, if that project also has sections of stockinette or garter, this color will still be fabulous. I always think those are the best colors. The ones that work for almost everything. Versatile. This is versatile. Pretty, versatile, and interesting. And! I almost forgot. It's nearly a neutral but without being boring about it. It's perfect. It's got everything you could want in a yarn. Seriously. You can't go wrong here.
"Until the End of Time" will not be dyed again.

Note from Sundara...My mother is a fan of the show "Virgin River" on Netflix, which I've never watched, but I have all sorts of made up stories in my head from tidbits she's told me. A new season comes out tomorrow and we are all very super excited, as you can imagine. So excited, I decided to google inspiration photos of "Virgin River" to see if any inspirational yarn could be dyed. As you can see, it could.
I have no idea if this in any way shape or form reflects the show. Please don't hold it against me if it doesn't. This is a subtle teal with lots of black. It's perfect for a fall-winter-early spring-weight sweater. Or maybe a hat or cowl or scarf, if that's all you are up for. You are in no way obligated to watch "Virgin River" while knitting this yarn. Unless you want to, of course. Or, like me, you can just entertain yourself with ridiculously outlandish stories in your head. Either way, the yarn is fabulous.
"Twilight on the Virgin River" will not be dyed again.

Note from Sundara...I just got favorite green and favorite teal dye back after having been without them for a couple months, and I'm couldn't resist going a little crazy with them. I wanted to do something different in the way of inspiration photos, and I've had this kicking around for years, so I thought: why not?
This color took three trips into in the dye pot because silky merino is difficult to get super saturated with color and I wanted this to be a super saturated green and teal. And those three dips worked their magic because this is maybe one of my most deepest, richest, drenched in green and teal and all sorts of variations on those colors you can get. Yet it's still got that shimmer from the silk and all the softness you could want.
"The Eiffel is Electric" will not be dyed again.

Note from Sundara...Has anyone else watched "The Fall of the House of Usher" on Netflix yet? It's Poe, and anyone who has been getting the Daily Dreams for a while knows I'm a big Poe fan, so I couldn't resist. It was disturbing and compelling and fabulous and I had to dye up some yarn inspired by it. There are ravens throughout the series, and this one was more inspiring than photos of dilapidated houses.
The yarn though. This is one of my better Poe-inspired colors and I've loved all of my Poe-inspired colors. There's no actual black in it, even though you might be surprised by that when you get it in your hot little hands. It's darkest midnight blue with just hints of light here and there. It's mainly dark. It would actually look fantastic as a scarf or shawl set against the backdrop of a black coat. Especially if you have dark hair or bright blue eyes. Or both. Definitely if you have both.

Note from Sundara...If you came upon a gate like this while you were out on a walk, you just know you'd find some sort of castle that was under the spell of some evil fairy. Maybe it'd be a beast looking for true love and he'd have singing teapots and a massive library. Except we're knitters so the library would all be full of audiobooks to listen too while we knit with the never-ending supply of yarn that is also provided. It's a spell. It could happen.
Or, maybe there would be a prince or princess who is asleep for a hundred years and the spell requires a sweater hand-knit by their true love (obviously you) to be awoken from their slumber. This would make for a much interesting fairy tale, don't you think? Grimm got it all wrong. There was not enough yarn in Grimm's. I've rectified that with some "Spellbound" yarn. It won't put you to sleep or turn you into a monster, but it will keep you warm and cozy and give you something to do if you do happen to find yourself stuck in an abandoned castle under a spell.
"Spellbound" extra fine fingering merino will not be dyed again.

Note from Sundara...It's been years since I last read Jane Eyre, but I wanted to do a sort of "English castle covered in ivy in the fog" sort of color and when I saw this, all I could thing about was Jane and Rochester and his crazy wife haunting the attic of Thornfield Hall. Or at least I think that's how the story goes. I remember it being all very romantic back when I was sixteen.
The color, like the castle, is all lovely english ivy green with bits of grey, both dark and light, stone and fog, peeking through. But unlike the actual Thornfield Hall, this will keep you warm and safe and there won't be any crazy wife locked up in the attic.
"Thornfield" will not be dyed again. Updated: 1 batch left.
